American Board of Maritime Medicine

Dedicated to Maritime Physicians, Maritime Nurses and Maritime Public Health Specialists

Committees

Because the field of Maritime Medicine is complex the ABMM serves an inclusive organization and serves to unite the communication, collegiality, professional excellence, and free exchange of knowledge amongst Maritime Physicians, Maritime Nurses, and Maritime Public Health Specialists.

This, we believe, breeds a true sense of a “professional maritime community” which further propels the highest ethical and clinical practice standards which ultimately results in continuous improvement and excellence in patient care. In order to achieve the goals and objectives of the ABMM, the ABMM is organized and governed by various Committees, as follows.

The Chairman of CORE shall be the Vice-Chairman of the ABMM.

The Chairman of each Section (see infra) shall submit subject matter examination questions to the Chairman CORE for evaluation for appropriateness for inclusion in the respective subject matter board examinations. The Chairman of CORE may delegate review of such subject matter and board examination questions to the other Committee Members of the EC.

ABMM Sections

In order for the ABMM to serve as a unifying body to foster collegiality, professional excellence and leadership amongst Maritime Physicians, Maritime Nurses, and Maritime Public Health Specialists so as to promote the excellence of patient care within the maritime community, it is comprised of three (3) Sections, as follows:

  • Section on Maritime Medicine
  • Section on Maritime Nursing
  • Section on Maritime Public Health

Each of the Sections is headed by a Chairman. The Chairman shall suggest to the EC potential Members of their respective Committee.
